With the Ed O'Bannon case and Northwestern's attempts at unionization, several NCAA schools decided to stop selling jerseys with star players numbers on them for fear of future legal liabilities.
Oregon has decided to go the other way with it, offering 25 variants on the No. 8 jersey worn by starting quarterback Marcus Mariota.
ESPN reports that Heisman hopeful Mariota leads the pack as college football's most merchandised player, with Michigan's Devin Gardner, Notre Dame's Everett Golson, Alabama's T.J. Yeldon, and Ohio State's Braxton Miller rounding out the top five.
The count takes into consideration different colors, as well as youth, toddler, women's and men's jersey styles.
