Rays pitcher Alex Cobb rescued a stray dog

If you live in Port Charlotte, Florida, and are missing a dog, Rays pitcher Alex Cobb wants to talk to you.

Cobb spotted the small brown dog outside the Rays' spring training facility and "pursued the dog on foot, crossing through neighborhood traffic and several backyards before rescuing the escaped pup some 20 minutes later," according to MLB.com.

This Cuban baseball player took a 41-second home run trot

"He was running right in the middle of traffic," Cobb told the Tampa Bay Times. "I kind of tailed off him a little bit, let him do his thing, I didn't want to scare him into traffic more.

"I went down some neighborhood streets and into some back yards. You could tell he was a little scared, eventually he just kind of finally cowered down and let me pick him up."

If the dog is yours, the Rays want you to email lostdog@raysbaseball.com. In the meantime, the lost pup is getting along just fine with Cobb's bulldog.
