Wednesday marked the beginning of the NBA free agency period, and all eyes have been on LaMarcus Aldridge, who looks to be departing Portland for a new team next season.

Among the contenders for the All-Star power forward are the Lakers, and the team has recruited one of its famous fans to help lure Aldridge to the Lakers.

Shortly after midnight the team met with Aldridge and also began a twitter campaign with the hashtag #LAtoLA and posted a photo of Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine wearing a LaMarcus Aldridge Lakers jersey.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, a picture of a screaming pop star may not have been enough to grab Aldridge's attention, as it has been reported by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski that the longtime Trail Blazer left the meeting unimpressed, and the Spurs are now viewed as the frontrunner for the power forward.
