High school basketball rivalries can get very tense, with the students often living close to one another and crossing paths frequently off the courts, but Highland and Madison High have taken things to a new level, with a brawl starting over the mascots.

At a recent basketball game, several Madison students rushed the court and confronted Highland’s Ram mascot after he bumped into his Madison foil, leading to a brawl that had to be broken up by police, according to the Idaho State Journal.

The tension carried over to the game, where Madison won 62–61 to claim the 5A District 5-6 championship.
