Audio: Mike Francesa eviscerates Rick DiPietro for calling him a ‘fatso’

A week after calling the Islanders a “third-rate organization,” New York sports talk show host Mike Francesa is now in the middle of a radio feud with goalie-turned-radio-host Rick DiPietro.

DiPietro, who co-hosts a show on a rival New York station, shot back at Francesa’s Islanders criticism last Wednesday by repeatedly calling him a “fatso,” even though Francesa never mentioned his name.

Francesa claims to have just heard of this news, considering he’d never admit to keeping tabs on what his “competition” are doing, responded with one of his iconic takedowns on Tuesday.

The best Francesa callers of 2015

“He felt he needed to protect the team that’s paying him. And I might have a warm spot for a team was paying me through 2029 when I’d done nothing but shoot my mouth off and bilk them out of a 15-year deal and have a losing record for my career,” Francesa said.

“But I gather he said some disparaging things about me after I attacked the Islanders. I didn’t say anything about him. Obviously I wouldn’t pay much attention to him.”

“You’re you, and I’m Gordie Howe.” Freaking gold.
