Canadiens’ Suzuki Can’t Enjoy Year of Chipotle Won at All-Star Event

The NHL All-Star weekend kicked off in Sunrise, Florida on Friday night with a variety of skills competitions. In an attempt to add different events each year, the league created a few events made just for the Florida location.

One such event was the “NHL Pitch and Puck” competition presented by Chipotle, where players participated in a hockey and golf hybrid event and played a hole of golf by using hockey sticks, hockey pucks and golf balls like in Happy Gilmore. Montreal Canadiens forward and captain Nick Suzuki, a self proclaimed avid golfer and 10-handicap, won the event with a birdie on the hole.

By winning the event, Suzuki won a year of free Chipotle. However, there is one problem: there are no Chipotles in Montreal. There are only a handful of Chipotle restaurants in Canada as a whole, as the restaurant is primarily an American chain. The closest to Montreal is located two hours away in Ottawa.

Therefore, Suzuki is going to have to get creative with his free Chipotle by eating there a lot on road trips. Luckily, he does like eating Chipotle despite not living near one, and he even gave his preferred order.

“Big [Chipotle] bowl guy — steak and chicken, rice, sour cream,” Suzuki said.
