Tobias Harris Shares Hilarious Message for Injured Joel Embiid After 76ers Sweep Nets
After leading the Joel Embiid-less 76ers to a series-ending win over the Nets on Saturday, Tobias Harris took a moment to share a hilarious message to his injured teammate during his postgame interview.
With Embiid out due to a sprained knee he sustained in Game 3, Harris picked up the slack with a 25-point, 12-rebound performance to help Philadelphia secure a first-round sweep over Brooklyn with a 96–88 Game 4 victory on the road. The gutsy win came in the midst of growing uncertainty surrounding Embiid’s health, after 76ers coach Doc Rivers announced prior to tipoff it “may take a minute” before the MVP frontrunner returns.
After the game, Harris spoke with TNT’s Allie LaForce about his clutch performance, and was eventually asked what he wanted to say to Embiid while he’s recovering at home. Needless to say, Harris didn’t beat around the bush when delivering his message, as the veteran forward looked directly into the camera and said exactly what was on his mind.
“Hurry up and get yo ass back out here,” Harris said with a smile.
Although Harris provided Sixers fans and the TNT crew with a good laugh, the next few days figures to be anything but a laughing matter for Philadelphia with Embiid’s playoff status firmly in jeopardy,
For now, though, Harris and the 76ers can at least revel in the fact that they managed to persevere without Embiid to advance to the second round for the third straight season. The Sixers, who will play the winner of the Celtics-Hawks series, also managed to make a little history in the process on Saturday after earning the franchise’s first series sweep since 1991.
