Manny Machado Destroys Padres' Water Cooler in Dugout Meltdown

Padres star third baseman Manny Machado saw his frustrations boil over during Sunday’s defeat against the Brewers. After popping out in a crucial spot in the seventh inning, Machado proceeded to obliterate a water cooler in San Diego’s dugout.

The 31-year-old could be seen smashing the cooler repeatedly with his bat following the disappointing at-bat in the seventh inning. He got at least three swings off, sending some water and ice splashing out before he could be seen angrily throwing his batting gloves and helmet.

It’s been a disappointing season for the Padres, to say the least. Following Sunday’s 10-6 loss, the team sits at 61-70 on the year, widely considered to be one of MLB’s biggest letdowns.

Machado went 1-for-5 at the plate on Sunday, recording a double and a strikeout on the evening as the Padres were swept by Milwaukee. San Diego has now lost six of its last eight games and has a 9-15 record during the month of August.

This month, Machado has a batting average of .207, having cooled off after a strong July during which he hit 11 home runs with an OPS of 1.092.
