Noah Lyles Calls Out Drake Over Team USA Comments While Doubling Down

U.S. track and field star Noah Lyles grabbed the attention of several NBA stars when he questioned why NBA champions considered themselves as “world champions.”

On Friday, after Team USA lost 113-111 to Germany in the FIBA World Cup semifinals, Lyles took a jab at the award-winning rapper and songwriter Drake regarding the world champion dialogue.

In a Q&A with GQ, Lyles questioned why the rap star included himself in the conversation, telling him to “go back home.”

“Drake, what are you doing here? Go back home,” Lyles said. “This is an NBA conversation. But I couldn’t go on TikTok for more than three seconds because it would just be like, me. And I’m like, Can I see something else? I don't want to see me. I go to Twitter to see other things.”

Lyles’s comments in GQ came after Drake previously called out the runner, saying Lyles “thought this speech was gonna be so hard in the mirror the night before...now the whole league doesn’t rate u” per TMZ Sports.

Prior to Lyles’s interview, it appeared that the 26-year-old stood on his stance after two memes on social media taking a shot at Team USA were among his likes on Friday night. Even more, Canada defeated Team USA on Sunday in the bronze medal game, sending the Americans back home without a medal in their second consecutive FIBA World Cup.

It will be interesting to see if Lyles receives another response from Drake following his latest comments.
