With a record of 57-105 in 2019, the Marlins were the worst team in the National League but that doesn’t mean fantasy baseball players should overlook their roster in 2020. In fact, Sports Illustrated’s fantasy baseball analyst Shawn Childs highlights a handful of players from the Marlins roster that fantasy players should consider drafting. On that list includes first baseman Jesus Aguilar who Childs labels as a sleeoer, second baseman Ian Diaz who Childs calls a deep sleeper and third baseman Brian Anderson who according to Childs is a great value pick.

Corey Parson: Hey what's up it's Corey Parson, the fantasy executive for SI.com. Fantasy baseball owners, I know you're ready to submit your lineups. Baseball should be back soon. Joining me to talk some Miami Marlins right now, SI's fantasy and gaming analyst Shawn Childs and Ben Heisler. Ben, is there a sleeper on this roster?

Ben Heisler: I think so, I think it's Jesus Aguilar. If you give this dude confidence, he's gonna reward you. Go back to 2017, he got his big break with the Milwaukee Brewers and then in 2018, Eric Thanes went down. That was just two seasons ago and he ended up hitting .274, 35 bombs and 100 RBI. He didn't have a great year in Tampa last year, but as Shawn pointed out over in his Marlins team preview at SI.com, Jesus Aguilar's strike out and walk rate both went up a season ago. So if he can get that swing path up back in Miami, I think he could again be a 30 homerun guy at just insane value currently where he's being drafted right now.

Corey Parson: Shawn, is there anything else on this Miami Marlin roster that we should be looking out for?

Shawn Childs: Isan Diaz is kind of a deep sleeper. He really played really well last year at AAA, hit .305, 89 runs, 26 home runs, 70 RBI, 5 steals over 377 at bats. But when he got to the majors, he really, really struggled with a strikeout rate close to 30%. When he made contact, he only hit .258. So he was kind of overmatched, but he needs a little more playing time. So he's unsure if he's going to be in the lineup against lefties, but he has sneaky power, especially if you cheat the position in deep leagues. He is the guy that can help you for sure as batting average will probably come below the league average, but overall, he's is a guy with upside that's going to get drafted really, really late. As far as a value, Brian Anderson, a guy that I really liked two years ago, kind of the power didn't come on. He only had 11 home runs. But last year he got out of the gate so slow and he was a guy that was cut in a lot of leagues, only two home runs, twelve RBI, hit .227 over his first 163 at bats. But over the next forty seven games he really, really helped. He made a push and he ended up with twenty home runs and that's missing the last five or six weeks of the year. So he's a guy that falls late in drafts and he qualifies at outfield and third base.
