Meet the 'accidental agronomist' who became a golf industry connector

Shelia Finney, Senior Director of Member Programs at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA), discusses programs that encourage more women and young people to seek out careers in the golf industry.

In this episode, Shelia Finney, senior director of member programs at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America, joins the show to discuss her transformation from "accidental agronomist" to golf industry connector. She also highlights the engaging programs that the GCSAA leads to encourage more women and young people to seek out careers in the golf industry.

"For most of these kids, it's the first time they've been on a golf course," Finney said. "I remember being on a field trip, and one little girl on a green reached down to touch it and said, 'It's real!' It's a wonderful way to introduce the kids in that class – young women, in particular – to golf."
