Los Angeles Dodgers second-half preview: Star power leads the way
Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci previews the second half of the MLB season for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Standing: 1st in NL West
Batting Average: Yasiel Puig, .309
Home Runs: Adrian Gonzalez, 14
ERA: Josh Beckett, 2.26
The Dodgers entered the 2014 season looking to build on last year's NLCS appearance and 42-8 record to close the regular season. Though the Dodgers haven't quite matched that pace, they once again sit atop the NL West. Los Angeles took advantage of the Giants' midseason collapse, managing to erase a 9.5-game deficit from June 5 to June 29.
With a strong group of young talent and an overcrowded outfield, Los Angeles could be in the market to deal an asset such as Matt Kemp.
