The Brewers have placed utility man Jeff Bianchi on the disabled list with a right elbow strain, the team announced Thursday

Bianchi has played in 29 games this season, mostly as a pinch hitter and defensive replacement. He is batting .171 with a .388 OPS.

Milwaukee's regular shortstop, Jean Segura is expected to return to the lineup tomorrow against the Nationals. Segura had been in his native Dominican Republic following the sudden death of his nine-month-old son.

Bianchi's move to the DL creates a roster space for Segura, who was placed on the bereavement list before the All-Star break.
