Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-jin Ryu will be shut down for the next three days after receiving an injection in his left shoulder because of tightness, the team announced.

Ryu received anti-inflammatory injection on Wednesday after experiencing discomfort during a spring training start.

Ryu, 27, also had a back problem after reporting to spring training.

Ryu is expected to be the Dodgers' No. 3 starter this season behind Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke.

He went 14-7 with a 3.38 ERA and 139 strikeouts for Los Angeles last season and is 28-15 with a 3.17 ERA in his two major league seasons.
