The Milwaukee Brewers have placed shortstop Jean Segura on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured right pinky finger, the team announced. The move is retroactive to May 13.

Segura, 25, was hitting .262 with 14 runs scored, 12 RBIs and six steals in 33 games. He was a late scratch for Wednesday's game against the Chicago White Sox with what the team called a 'sore' finger. Milwaukee recalled 21-year-old infielder Luis Sardinas from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take his roster spot.

Losing Segura is the latest blow for the Brewers, who are currently 12-23 and have been without All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who hit the DL on April 21, for nearly a month. Milwaukee was also without outfielder Carlos Gomez for two weeks in April after he suffered a hamstring injury.

Third baseman Aramis Ramirez has missed the past six games with a sore back, though he hopes to return Friday.
