Indians call up Cody Anderson to make debut

CLEVELAND (AP) The Cleveland Indians have called up right-hander Cody Anderson to make his major league debut against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Anderson will start Sunday in the finale of a three-game series. He was called up from Triple-A Columbus. Anderson began the season at Double-A Akron and has gone 4-3 with a 1.89 ERA in the minors this season.

Anderson, 24, was Cleveland's 14th-round selection in the 2011 draft. He's the fourth pitcher the Indians have used in the fifth spot in the rotation.

Zach McAllister, T.J. House, Shaun Marcum and Bruce Chen went a combined 3-8 as the fifth starter. McAllister was moved to the bullpen, House and Marcum are at Columbus and Chen retired after two starts.

Left-hander Kyle Crockett was optioned to Columbus. He made five scoreless relief appearances for the Indians.
