Red Sox 3B Sandoval scratched with back tightness

BOSTON (AP) Boston Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval was scratched from Friday night's game against the Philadelphia Phillies because of back tightness.

Travis Shaw was inserted in the lineup, playing third base and batting fifth.

Sandoval was on the field for batting practice. He took a couple of cuts in the cage before stepping out and talking to a trainer. They walked slowly to the dugout, with Sandoval going down the steps gingerly.

The lineup change was announced about 45 minutes later.

Sandoval is hitting .247 with 10 homers and 44 RBIs.
