The San Francisco Giants have activated second baseman Joe Panik off the disabled list, the team announced on Monday. Panik was placed on the disabled list in August after dealing with lower back inflammation.

Panik is hitting .309 with a .374 on-base percentage and a .443 slugging percentage on the year and was named to his first All-Star team in July.

The Giants sit 7 1/2 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the National League West division with a 71–66 record. The defending champions are also eight games back in the hunt for a wild-card spot.

In his rehab stint with Triple A Sacramento, Panik flashed his glove with a diving stop against Reno.
