Video: Ichiro Suzuki pitches eighth inning for Miami Marlins
Miami Marlins outfielder Ichiro Suzuki pitched the eighth inning of the team’s last game.
Ichiro Suzuki has had a legendary career in both Japan and the United States.
He added to the legend Sunday, pitching the eighth inning of the Miami Marlins’ season finale against the Philadelphia Phillies.
Suzuki pitched the entire inning, allowing one run on two hits. The outfielder mixed in a couple pitches, appearing to throw at least a slider in addition to his fastball, which topped out at 87 miles per hour. His MLB career ERA now stands at 9.00.
Suzuki’s only other career pitching appearance came in 1996, during a Japanese All-Star game, according to the Marlins’ Glenn Geffner.
