The San Diego Padres have signed six players ranked among the top-30 available international prospects, according to MLB.com.

Those players are shortstops Luis Almanzar, Gabrel Arias, Jordy Barley and Justin Lopez, along with outfielders Jeisson Rosario and Tirso Ornelas.

Luis Almanzar is the biggest signing for San Diego, with the team signing him to a $4 million deal. Almanzar is currently ranked as the No. 3 international prospect by MLB.com.

The Padres have also signed a number of players outside of the Top 30, and have been linked to Taiwanese pitcher Sung Chia Hao.

Because San Diego has exceeded its overall pool total for signing international prospects this season by more than 15 percent, the team will have to pay a 100 percent tax on their pool overage and can’t sign an international player for more then $300,000 in the next signing period.

The Padres (34–46) currently sit last in the NL West standings.
