The Houston Astros have signed Cuban infielder Yulieski Gurriel, the team announced Saturday.
The terms of the contract have not yet been revealed.
Gurriel, 32, has spent his 15-year career playing in Cuba, along with a short stint in Japan.
He is a career .335 hitter, posting 250 home runs, 1,018 RBIs and 121 stolen bases.
Gurriel has spent most of his career at third base, but has seen limited time at shortstop, second base and center field.
Last season, Gurriel hit .500 with 20 doubles and 51 RBIs in 174 at-bats for Industriales.
The Astros have designated Matt Duffy for assignment to make room for Gurriel on the 40-man roster.
