Brazilian female fighter Carina Damm has tested positive for Nandrolone according Bill Douglas of the California State Athletic Commission.

The suspension stems from a drug test following her April 3 bout for Fatal Femmes Fighting in Los Angeles where she submitted Sophie Bagherdai. She has since competed at the Freestyle Combat Challenge in Wisconsin, knocking out Lashonda Knox with a knee at the 11-second mark of the opening round.

Damm recently signed with EliteXC and was reportedly set to face Debi Purcell, who also just signed a three-fight deal with the promotion, on June 27 according to FighterGirls.com.

Damm received a 12-month suspension from California, which is retroactive beginning at the conclusion of the bout on April 3, 2008 and runs through April 2, 2009. She has also been fined $2,500.

Douglas relayed that the "testing was conducted on the sample at Quest Diagnostics and at Laboratoire de controle du dopage in Laval (Quebec), Canada (a WADA certified facility). The nanogram count was reported at 37.9 ng/mL, which exceeds the threshold of 2 ng/mL."
