The first UFC event at Madison Square Garden will take place on Nov. 12, UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta announced Thursday.

Last month, New York’s state assembly legalized mixed martial arts fighting, passing a bill to lift the ban on the sport. Governor Andrew Cuomo signed the bill on Thursday, officially legalizing MMA.

“Madison Square Garden is the international icon for great sports events,” Cuomo said. “MMA is going to happen in this Garden.”

UFC fighter Ronda Rousey was in attendance at the signing of the bill. Rousey called the moment “huge” for the sport.

The details of the Nov. 12 event have not been released.

Fertitta also announced that a second event will take place in upstate New York later this year.
