But there still are a few players in the Class of 2008 who have yet to announce their decisions. Here's an update on some of the best uncommitted players.

Julio Jones (SI/Takkle No. 1 overall prospect)WR, 6-4/215Foley, Ala. (Foley High)The favorite: AlabamaThe contenders: Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma, Texas TechUpdate: Jones and his camp have revealed few specifics about his recruitment. Reached Wednesday, his mother, Queen Marvin, said her son is "still taking visits." Jones already has visited Alabama, Florida State and Florida. Earlier this month, he said he planned to wait until national signing day on Feb. 6 to reveal his choice.

Darrell Scott (SI/Takkle No. 2)RB, 6-0/204Ventura, Calif. (St. Bonaventure)The favorite: TexasThe sleeper: ColoradoUpdate: St. Bonaventure assistant/recruiting coordinator Roger Sonsini said Scott has narrowed his options to two schools, but Scott probably won't make a public announcement until Signing Day. While Colorado wouldn't normally stay in the hunt for such a high-rated out-of-state prospect, it has an advantage in this case. Scott's uncle, Josh Smith, is a rising junior receiver in Boulder.

Terrelle Pryor (SI/Takkle No. 16)QB, 6-6/235Jeannette, Pa. (Jeannette High)The contenders: Michigan, Ohio StateThe sleepers: Oregon, LSUUpdate: Pryor is expected to visit Oregon this weekend. Last weekend, he was accompanied to Michigan by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, whom Pryor has leaned on for advice during the recruiting process. Pryor is scheduled to announce his choice at 12:05 p.m. on signing day.

DeAndre Brown (SI/Takkle No. 27)WR, 6-6/208Ocean Springs, Miss. (Ocean Springs High)The contenders: LSU, Ole MissThe sleepers: Florida, Southern MissUpdate: Ocean Springs coach Todd Mangum told Rivals.com this week that Brown may visit Southern Miss this weekend, and Brown is scheduled to go to LSU during the final weekend for visits. Brown does not have an announcement scheduled yet.

Jerrell Harris (SI/Takkle No. 59)LB, 6-2/220Gadsden, Ala. (Gadsden City High)The contenders: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Tennessee, USCUpdate: Harris already has visited Alabama, Auburn and Clemson and plans to see USC and Tennessee on the final two weekends prior to national signing day. Gadsden City coach Joe Billingsley said Harris will announce his choice at a press conference at 3 p.m. on Signing Day.

Alonzo Lawrence (SI/Takkle NR)DB, 6-1/187Lucedale, Miss. (George County High)The contenders: Alabama, Miami, Ole MissUpdate: Lawrence is scheduled to visit Miami this weekend, George County coach Al Jones told Rivals.com on Thursday. Lawrence already has visited Alabama and Ole Miss. The cornerback, who fared well in a regular-season game against DeAndre Brown and in an all-star game against Julio Jones, is scheduled to announce his choice on Signing Day.

Brandon Harris (SI/Takkle NR)DB, 5-10/174Miami (Booker T. Washington High)The contenders: Florida, MiamiThe sleepers: LSU, Ohio StateUpdate: Harris could bolster already highly rated classes at Miami or Florida, but Hurricanes and Gators fans will have to wait until signing day to learn where Harris is headed. Booker T. Washington coach Tim Harris, Brandon's father and the reigning USA Today national coach of the year, told The Miami Herald that Brandon will announce his choice at 1:05 p.m. on Signing Day.

Nick Perry (SI/Takkle NR)DE, 6-4/240Detroit (Martin Luther King)The contenders: Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, USCUpdate: Perry is scheduled to visit Michigan this weekend. He already has visited Michigan State and USC, and he is scheduled to visit Miami the first weekend in February. Perry helped lead King High to a Division II state title, the first for a Detroit public school since Michigan established its playoff system. Perry came to King prior to his senior year after his previous school was closed because of budget cuts.

Cyrus Gray (SI/Takkle NR)RB, 6-0/188DeSoto, Texas (DeSoto)The favorite: Texas A&MThe sleeper: FloridaUpdate: DeSoto coach Dave Meadows said Gray has made his decision, but he is waiting to announce it. Gray visited Florida and Texas A&M on consecutive weekends, and he made up his mind shortly after returning from College Station. Gray's teammate, cornerback Adrian Bushell, already has committed to Florida.

T.J. Bryant (SI/Takkle No. 36)CB, 6-1/175 Tallahassee, Fla. (Lincoln)The favorite: Florida StateThe contenders: Alabama, Florida, LSU, Miami, USCUpdate: Lincoln coach Kyle Rice said Bryant would visit USC this weekend. He already has visited Florida and Miami, Rice said. Rice said Bryant has been quiet about his recruitment, and Rice did not know when Bryant planned to make a final decision.

William Green (SI/Takkle NR)LB, 6-4/215 Hoover, Ala. (Spain Park High)The favorite: FloridaThe sleepers: Alabama, AuburnUpdate: Green raved to Rivals.com about his visit to Florida last weekend, but he stopped just short of saying he had committed. Green was scheduled to visit Clemson this weekend, but he told Rivals on Wednesday that he canceled that trip. Green told the site he would announce a decision in a week or two.

Tommy Streeter (SI/Takkle NR)WR, 6-6/200 Miami (Northwestern High)The contenders: Boston College, Miami, Oregon, South Carolina, South FloridaUpdate: A broken arm forced Streeter to switch up his visit schedule. He rescheduled his visit to South Florida for this weekend, which may have squeezed out his visit to Miami. Streeter told Rivals.com that he is not close to making a decision, telling the site he may have "eight hats" in front of him on signing day.

E.J. Abrams-Ward (SI/Takkle No. 72)QB/LB, 6-5/210Thomasville, N.C. (Thomasville High)The contenders: North Carolina, TennesseeUpdate: Abrams-Ward has visited both of his finalists, but he has yet to make a decision. It's no coincidence that Abrams-Ward is down to two schools that also have excellent basketball teams; he may try to play both sports. The football-basketball combo, however, is "not a dealbreaker," Thomasville coach Allen Brown said.

Charles Mitchell (SI/Takkle No. 78)DB, 5-11/190Clarksdale, Miss. (Clarksdale High)The contenders: Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Southern MissUpdate: Mitchell went to Mississippi State last weekend and Nebraska earlier this month, and he still plans to check out Southern Miss and Michigan. Mitchell told Rivals.com this week that he doesn't need to take an official visit to Ole Miss because he has been to the campus on several occasions.

Nathan Stanley (SI/Takkle No. 89)QB, 6-4/190Tahlequah, Okla. (Sequoyah High)The contenders: Florida Atlantic, Maryland, Oklahoma State, Ole MissUpdate: Stanley will visit Ole Miss this weekend, and he already has visited Maryland and Florida Atlantic. Stanley was recruited by Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt's staff while Nutt was at Arkansas.

Antoine McClain (SI/Takkle No. 93)OT, 6-6/317 Anniston, Ala. (Anniston)The contenders: Auburn, Clemson, LSU, TennesseeUpdate: McClain visited Tennessee last week and met with a pair of Clemson assistants during the week. He is scheduled to go to Auburn this weekend and LSU next weekend. McClain plans to announce his choice on Signing Day.

Matt Brown (SI/Takkle No. 97)DB, 5-7/170Highstown, N.J. (The Peddie School)The contenders: NoneUpdate: Peddie School coach Geoff Harlan said that in spite of a standout performance in the Offense-Defense All-American game that earned Brown a Top 100 ranking, the speedy corner still has yet to get a scholarship offer.
