Vonn won't need surgery on sore knees -- only rest

Lindsey Vonn won't need surgery on her sore knees, just rest after a long season.

Tests on Monday revealed some fraying of the meniscus in Vonn's left knee, but no tear. The right knee turned out to be fine.

Vonn was bothered by her aching knees during the season, but kept it quiet. She said Saturday after skiing out in the giant slalom at the U.S. Championships that she didn't think her knees would be "too big of a deal."

This was quite a season for Vonn, who compiled the most points ever by a female skier as she recaptured the overall World Cup crown. She was chasing Hermann Maier's record mark of 2,000 points, but finished just shy at 1,980.
