NEW YORK (AP) -- Top Americans Meb Keflezighi, Ryan Hall and Kara Goucher will run this year's New York City Marathon.

Keflezighi won the race in 2009 to become the first American champion since 1982. He committed last August to run in 2012 and '13.

The 38-year-old Californian had contemplated retiring after this year's NYC Marathon, which is Nov. 3. Then the 2012 race was canceled because of Superstorm Sandy, and he pulled out of the Boston Marathon in April because of injury. Now he's talking about possibly competing through the 2016 Olympics.

Hall and Goucher have struggled in the last couple of years to build on the promise they showed early in their marathon careers in New York and elsewhere. Hall won the U.S. trials for the Beijing Olympics with a dominant performance in Central Park. Goucher was third in the 2008 NYC Marathon in her debut at the distance, becoming the first American woman in 14 years to finish on the podium.
