Haywood agrees to deal with Mavericks

The Mavericks have reached an agreement with free-agent center Brendan Haywood, who will receive as much as $55 million in a six-year contract. Multiple league sources told SI.com on Thursday that the last year of the deal is not guaranteed.

Dallas acquired Haywood in February as part of a seven-player trade with Washington. The 30-year-old Haywood averaged 8.1 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 28 games with the Mavericks, splitting the starting role with Erick Dampier. Dallas is looking to trade Dampier, who has a non-guaranteed $13 million contract for next season.
