Tickets to LeBron James homecoming event sell out in hours

The City of Akron announced that tickets to a homecoming event for LeBron James sold out just hours after they were made available. Though admission is free, tickets are required for fans to attend.

The City of Akron announced that tickets to a homecoming event for LeBron James sold out just hours after they were made available. Though admission is free, tickets are required for fans to attend. 

Akron and the LeBron James Family Foundation are hosting the celebration, which will take place Aug. 8 at the InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field at the University of Akron.

The event "will celebrate LeBron’s return to his hometown, and more importantly, the many kids and families in Akron that have been positively impacted by his philanthropic efforts," according to a press release from the city

James announced that he would sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason in a first-person story published on SI.com. James, who was born in Akron, signed with the Miami Heat in the 2010 offseason, and made four consecutive finals with the team.
