Raptors PG Vásquez: 'We need a Paul Pierce that's gonna talk that trash'
Toronto Raptors point guard Greivis Vásquez said on Monday that his team needs a player like Washington Wizards forward Paul Pierce "that's gonna talk that trash."
Washington completed the first four-game sweep of a playoff series in franchise history on Sunday night with a 125-94 victory in Washington D.C.
After the game, Pierce posted a photo on Facebook displaying him in front of the iron throne featured in the TV series Game of Thrones with the caption, "King in the North."
Pierce also tweeted a photo mocking the popular rapper Drake, an ambassador for the Toronto Raptors.
In Game 3 of the series, Pierce gestured to the Verizon Center crowd and proclaimed "That's why I'm here" after burying a late three-pointer.
On Monday, Vásquez voiced his belief that Toronto could use a player who, like Pierce, will not hesitate to taunt the opposition.
"You need to have that spiciness," Vásquez said, according to CBSSports.com's James Herbert. "You need to be a little bit of an asshole like he is."
Vásquez added, "Basically, we need a Paul Pierce that's gonna talk that trash. We don't have that."
Pierce, 37, is in his first season with Washington after spending last season with the Brooklyn Nets.
