Cavaliers’ Tristan Thompson Suspended 25 Games for PEDs

The NBA announced Tuesday it has suspended Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson 25 games for violating the NBA/NBPA anti-drug program. Thompson tested positive for ibutamoren and SARM LGD-4033, the league said.

Thompson is currently in his 12th NBA season, including his 10th with the Cavaliers (in two stints). Thompson’s suspension begins with the Cavaliers’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, but the forward will be eligible to return before the regular season ends.

The 32-year-old has played in 36 games for Cleveland this season, all coming off the bench, and has averaged 3.8 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He is playing an average of 12.4 minutes per game, his fewest as a pro.

The Cavaliers are currently 26-15 on the season, which is good enough for the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. However, three teams, the New York KnicksMiami Heat and Indiana Pacers, are within three games in the standings.
