The Los Angeles Lakers' victory over the Miami Heat on Dec. 13th seems like a lifetime ago. But pictures last a lifetime, and that may not necessarily be a good thing for LeBron James. In the fourth quarter, James had a thunderous dunk that was captured by photojournalist Steve Mitchell. James, or the staff that runs his Facebook page, thought highly of Mitchell’s photo and posted a cropped version on James’ page. The same cropped photo was posted on his Instagram account. The manner in which James used and promoted the cropped version of the photo is now the subject of a copyright infringement lawsuit. SI’s legal analyst Michael McCann breaks down the lawful ramifications of the ordeal.
