Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green believes the team will reach a contract extension with their starting QB before the start of the season.

“We came in together. That’s my guy. He helped me where I am. I helped him and we took the Bengals to a different level,” Green said, via the team's official website. “The Bengals were losing a lot before we came. I feel like we turned it around. “I know they know he’s the guy…I feel like they’re going to get something done before the season starts.”

Green and Dalton were both drafted by Cincinnati in 2011 -- Green in the first-round, and Dalton in the second.

Dalton's started every game for the Bengals over the last three seasons, and threw for 4,293 yards, 33 touchdowns and 20 interceptions in 2013.

Cincinnati made it to the playoffs all three of those years, but came up empty in their first postseason game each time.

“A lot of people give [Dalton] crap about not winning a playoff game, but we’ve made the playoffs the last three seasons," said Green. "We’ve won 10 or more games (twice). Playoff games…we’re still young. I feel like we’re going to win them, it just takes time.”
