New York Jets running back Chris Ivory left Thursday night's preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts during the second quarter, but Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports the injury was just a bruised rib.

Ivory cracked a rib in the Jets' final game last season against the Miami Dolphins. The running back also missed large portions of the 2011 and 2012 NFL seasons with hamstring and foot injuries.

After the game, Jets head coach Rex Ryan said Ivory "should be fine."

Ivory started Thursday's game for the Jets, running for 17 yards on seven carries. Last season, Ivory ran for 833 yards and three touchdowns on 182 carries.

The Jets did not name a starter at running back on their first preseason depth chart on Aug. 4. Ivory, Chris Johnson and Bilal Powell were all listed together as the team's first-string backs.
