The Bears agreed to a deal with wide receiver Santonio Holmes on Saturday, a team source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 30-year-old, who was the Super Bowl XLIII MVP in the Steelers' win over the Cardinals, had worked out for the Bears earlier this week, according to Schefter.

Holmes caught 23 passes for 456 yards and one touchdown in 11 games for the Jets last season. He played only four games in 2012 before suffering a Lisfranc injury.

An eight-year veteran — four with the Steelers and four with the Jets — Holmes has 5,963 career receiving yards and 36 touchdowns. His lone 1,000-yard season came in 2009, when he had 1,248 yards and five touchdowns for the Steelers.

Holmes will likely compete for the third receiver role with the Bears, behind starters Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.
