The NFL fined Tennessee Titans rookie offensive lineman Taylor Lewan $8,268 for a unnecessary roughness penalty in the team's preseason game against the New Orleans Saints last Friday, reports The Tennessean.

Lewan received two 15-yard penalties in the game, one for shoving an opponent in the chest and another for grabbing the facemask of Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan.

"Yeah, I got fined for that and I was not super-thrilled to be honest,'' Lewan said. "I know it happens, but it's not the way you want to spend your money. ... I obviously did it the wrong way. I didn't want to get a flag, didn't want to hurt the team."

Lewan will receive a base salary of $420,000 this season after signing a four-year deal worth $11.5 million, including a $6.7 million signing bonus.
