Hall of Fame basketball player Charles Barkley was a guest Sunday on CBS' pregame show, The NFL Today. He talked with host Jim Rome about the ongoing Adrian Peterson case, explaining that it depends on who you are and where you're from that sometimes dictates how you raise a child.

Peterson was deactivated by the Vikings following child abuse charges brought against him this week after he allegedly struck his four-year-old son with a "switch" -- a tree branch.

Barkley said "whipping" is a form of discipline that many parents in the south "do all the time."

"Whipping -- we do that all the time. Every black parent in the south is going to be in jail under those circumstances."
