The Jaguars have placed veteran linebacker Paul Posluszny on injured reserve with a torn pectoral muscle, the team announced Monday.

“It’s a big loss,” Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said, according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com. “That will be a difficult one.”

Posluszny recorded a team-high 69 total tackles, with two sacks and one pass defended in seven games this season. He has led the team in tackles in each season since signing with Jacksonville in 2011.

Bradley said fourth-year player J.T. Thomas will take Posluszny's spot at middle linebacker, and that the team is unlikely to sign another linebacker to fill Posluszny's space on the roster.

The Jaguars earned their first victory of the season on Sunday, against the Browns. They play the Dolphins in Week 8.
