Patrick Willis will have season-ending surgery

The 49ers have placed linebacker Patrick Willis on injured reserve with a toe injury, the team announced Tuesday

Willis was injured in San Francisco's game against the St. Louis Rams in Week 6 and has not played since. 

Rookie Chris Borland has replaced Willis at inside linebacker and averaged 11 tackles per game in his three starts. 

49ers DT Ray McDonald will not face charges in domestic violence case​

The 49ers will have outside linebacker Aldon Smith available for Sunday's game against the GiantsCSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco reports

Willis was selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his seven seasons in the league. He has never played in fewer than 13 games in a season.
