That seemed to be the case as the Broncos managed only three points in the first quarter and later entered halftime trailing the Miami Dolphins 21-17.
Manning was sharp in the first half nevertheless, going 15-of-19 for for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
The Broncos (8-3) rallied to beat the Dolphins 39-36 a week after a surprising 22-7 loss to the St. Louis Rams.
Denver is locked in a battle with the Kansas City Chiefs (7-4) and San Diego Chargers (7-4) in the AFC West standings. The Chiefs fell to the previously winless Raiders on Thursday, while the Chargers defeated the Rams 27-24.
The Broncos face the Chiefs next week, and travel to San Diego in two weeks to play the Chargers.
