Colt McCoy is expected to start at quarterback for the Washington Redskins on Sunday, head coach Jay Grudentold reporters Thursday.

Gruden said McCoy will start unless he has a setback in his recovery from a neck injury. Gruden had said Monday that Robert Griffin III would start if McCoy was not medically cleared but did not say who would start in the event McCoy was healthy.

McCoy injured his neck in the fourth quarter of last week's loss to the Rams and was replaced by Griffin. McCoy had replaced Griffin as the starter after Week 11. Even before McCoy's injury, Washington fans chanted for Griffin to be put in the game.

Conflicting reports arose last week about whether Gruden sees Griffin as a long-term solution at quarterback.
