Jameis Winston was "secretly shadowed" by an NFL team on one of his flights to or from the NFL combine, reports Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson.

Robinson's report comes from comments by Winston's quarterbacks coach, George Whitfield. A representative from another NFL team reportedly told Whitfield that Winston "had been watched" on the flight.

The former Florida State quarterback is considered one of the top two signal callers in the draft and could be the No. 1 overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

During his time at Florida State, Winston dealt with several off-field issues, most notably sexual assault allegations. He also shoplifted crab legs from a grocery store and yelled an inappropriate phrase on Florida State's campus, leading to a suspension.

The first round of the 2015 NFL draft will be held April 30 in Chicago. Earlier Tuesday, Winston said he might not attend the draft because he would like to be with his grandmother, who cannot travel due to her type-2 diabetes.

"We haven't made that decision yet, but my grandmother can't travel, and ... she’s been my life," Winston said to the NFL Network.
