The New England Patriots have signed free-agent linebacker Brandon Spikes to a one-year deal, reports Adam Schefter and Field Yates of ESPN.

Spikes was drafted by the Patriots in the second round in 2010 and spent his first four NFL seasons in New England. After not being re-signed following the 2013 season, he signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills in March 2014.

The 27-year-old played in all 16 games for Buffalo last season, starting 10. He recorded 54 tackles, 1.0 sack and one forced fumble.

For his career, Spikes has made 346 tackles and has two interceptions and 17 passes defended.
