The Tennessee Titans will release running back Shonn Greene on Tuesday, according toThe Tennessean's Jim Wyatt.

Greene, 29, is entering the final year of a three-year, $10 million contract he signed in March 2013.

Greene spent the first four years of his career with the New York Jets, where he rushed for over 1,000 yards during the 2011 and 2012 seasons. In his two seasons with the Titans, he has not run for more than 392 yards.

The Titans have running back Bishop Sankey on the roster, who was drafted in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft and rushed for almost 200 more yards than Greene in his rookie year with Tennessee. They also have fullback Jalston Fowler and running back David Cobb, who were selected in the fourth and fifth round of the 2015 NFL draft respectively. Dexter McCluster adds to the depth of the roster as he enters his sixth season in the league.

Greene did not participate in the Titan's offseason training program and was absent for all 10 days of the team's organized activities. Greene returned to the Titans for Monday's mini-camp before being released.
