Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the preseason favorite to win the NFL MVP award, according to odds released by Bovada.

Rodgers's odds of winning are 5-1, with Colts quarterback Andrew Luck close behind at 7-1. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Texans defensive end J.J. Watt have the third-best odds, tied at 12-1.

Rodgers is the most recent MVP winner, earning the crown in both 2014 and 2011. Other previous winners to lead this year's list of favorites are Peyton Manning (16-1) and Tom Brady (20-1). Manning has been awarded MVP five times, an NFL record, and Brady has won twice.

Nine quarterbacks appear on the list, followed by six running backs and three wide receivers. Watt is the only defensive end to make the list.

Members of the media cast their votes for MVP at the conclusion of the regular season, and the winner is announced the day before the Super Bowl.
