The song “Can't Feel My Face” by The Weeknd played at Ford Field when Jets quarterback Geno Smith was announced as inactive before the exhibition game between the Jets and the Lions on Thursday.

Former Jets linebacker Ikemefuna Enemkpali punched Smith in the face and broke his jaw in a locker room fight on Tuesday. Smith will be out six to 10 weeks after undergoing surgery.

The song earned the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week of Aug. 22. Its broadcast could simply be credited to its popularity or could have been a jab at Smith.

The Lions beat the Jets, 23–3 in their preseason opener. Ryan Fitzpatrick started at quarterback for the Jets, going 2 of 3 for 16 yards before turning the ball over to Bryce Petty, who played most of the game at quarterback.
