The Philadelphia Eagles have released offensive guard John Moffitt, according to a report by NJ.com's Matt Lombardo.

Moffitt, 28, attempted to return to the NFL with Philadelphia after a two-year sabbatical from the league.

Throughout his NFL career, Moffitt had gotten into trouble due to drug and public urination charges. He had reportedly gone to rehab during his time away from the league to get his life back on track.

In January, the Eagles signed Moffitt to a one-year deal at the league minimum, with no guaranteed money.

Moffitt was selected by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2011 draft out of Wisconsin.

In 19 career NFL games, Moffitt has made 15 starts.
