The Miami Dolphinsannounced Thursday that they have cut ties with defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle. He will be replaced with defensive backs coach Lou Anarumo, reports NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.

The news comes just three days after the Dolphins fired head coach Joe Philbin. Under Coyle and Philbin, Miami’s defense had allowed 399.5 yards per game, ranking 30th in the NFL. The Dolphins have also allowed 37 first-quarter points in just four games.

Coyle was in his fourth season as the Dolphins’ defensive coordinator, and previously spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Anarumo has been the defensive backs coach for the Dolphins since 2012. He had not previously coached in the NFL.

The Dolphins have lost three in a row and sit in last place in the AFC East with a 1–3 record. They have a bye in Week 5, giving the players an extra week to adjust to the new coaching staff.
