Buffalo Bills add DE IK Enemkpali to active roster
The Buffalo Bills have added defensive end IK Enemkpali to their active roster, the team announced Monday.
Enemkpali, 24, initially joined the Bills after being released from the Jets following a preseason incident during which he punched quarterback Geno Smith in the face, breaking his jaw.
Enemkpali served a four-game suspension without pay at the start of the season and was on a roster exemption for the team’s Week 5 game against the Titans.
Bills coach Rex Ryan said that Enemkpali will serve as a designated pass-rusher, adding he will “probably contribute on special teams.”
Enemkpali takes the roster spot of running back Cierre Wood, who sustained a knee injury during the second quarter of the team's game against Tennessee. The Bills placed Wood on injured reserve with a torn ACL on Monday, leaving Boobie Dixon and Boom Herron as the only healthy Bills running backs on the roster.
The Bills will host the Bengals on Sunday.
