Sources: Ex-Terps assistant John Dunn joining Bears staff

Former Maryland tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator John Dunn has accepted a quality control position under Chicago Bears coach Jon Fox.

Former Maryland tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator John Dunn has accepted a quality control position under Chicago Bears coach John Fox, according to sources.

This past season was Dunn’s fifth at Maryland. He was not retained by new Terrapins coach D.J. Durkin.

Before Dunn’s tenure in College Park, he was an offensive graduate assistant at LSU for three seasons. He also had the same position at his alma mater, North Carolina, from 2006–07.

The 32-year-old Dunn was also an offensive quality control assistant for the Tar Heels in 2005 following a season as a student assistant. A Henderson, N.C. native, he was a quarterback and tight end for North Carolina from 2001–03.

Chicago had a 6–10 record this past season in Fox’s first season with the team.
