Former Indianapolis Colts running back Zurlon Tipton died in Michigan on Tuesday. He was 26.

According to FOX 2 News in Detroit, Tipton died after accidentally shooting himself at a car dealership Tuesday morning. Tipton was removing a bag from the trunk of his car when one of two guns in the bag went off, shooting Tipton in the stomach. 

Tipton, who played his college ball at Central Michigan, played in 16 games for the Colts across the last two NFL seasons. Three of his appearances came in the playoffs. 

He carried the ball 30 times in his career, scoring one touchdown during the 2014 postseason. Tipton was waived by the Colts last December.
